365 days

We've been living the married life for ONE whole year!
People have told us that the first year is the hardest, and if thats the case...bring it on!  We've had our difficult moments, made some great memories, had many adventures, and we've learned so much about marriage, and about each other.

Few things I've learned about Andrew:
1.  He sweats a lot...okay I knew this before we were married, but I didn't realize what that meant for my laundry routine!  He throws his wet, sweaty socks into the dirty laundry basket!  Sometimes they set in there a couple of days before I do laundry, and schwoooeeee they are stinky and its disgusting when you accidentally pick up a wet one!  Speaking of sweat and laundry...I have to wash the sheets a lot more than what I was used to, if I don't his side of the bed begins to have a stench.
2.  He has a God given talent for kitchen cleaning and I cannot tell you what a blessing that is to my life!  I mean we're the perfect team, I love to cook and he loves tolerates cleaning up my messes!  He even hand washes my pots & pans!
3.  He absolutely loves and adores me!
  • He will give up hanging out or playing basketball with the guys, to spend a night watching girly tv shows and listening to me talk as if the people in the tv shows are real and truly my friends.
  • He lets me vent about how homesick I am, and tries so hard to find ways to make me feel better.
  • He prays for me and constantly is striving to be a great husband!

To commemorate this amazing year of marriage we have had we took a little trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Here's a look at some of the fun that we had!

We stayed at this cute little
bed and breakfast, Sheridans
We received complementary
wine and truffles.

We went into downtown Milwaukee and spent some
time around the third ward.  This is where we enjoyed
some delicious cheese curds!

Our beautiful view across the street from our bed & breakfast.

To end our anniversary weekend, we came home ate Arby's 2 can dine for $6.99 and enjoyed the top layer of our wedding cake.  It might not have looked as beautiful as it did one year ago, but honestly, it didn't taste too bad!

Here's to many many more years with my sweet husband!

Time Goes On

Well of course a lot has changed and we've done a lot since I last blogged. Sooo, I'll hit the high points.

A and I enjoying our rivalry game!
Andrew and I thoroughly enjoyed summer!  We knocked off two ballparks on our quest to go to a game at every MLB stadium.  We met my family in Dallas for a long weekend and got to see the Texas Rangers (my favorite team) play the Cincinnati Red (Andrew's favorite team).  While in the DFW area we ate a lot of good food, went to Hurricane Harbor, and saw some of Andrew's ACU friends.  Overall it was a great weekend.  We also took a day trip to Cincinnati and got to see the Reds play the Cards in a 16 inning game.

Andrew and I on our way to Hurricane Harbor
Dad and Mom at Babes in Arlington, Tx
Andrew and I in Dallas with my sister Kadi
and her boyfriend Travis.

Every other year Andrew's side of the family get together for a family reunion.  This summer it was at Joe Wheeler State Park in Alabama.  We had a great time hanging out with his cousins, and it was my first time to meet a lot of the family.

To end out our summer, I changed jobs.  The NICU was just not the right fit for me, so I went back on the job hunt and found the perfect job for me.  I am working at Northpoint Pediatric Clinic, and absolutely love my job and the people I work with.  I work PRN, which really just means I'm part time. Hopefully it will turn into a full time job in the future, but for now I enjoy a few days off during the week.

At Brown County
To kick off the wonderful season of fall, my parents came for a visit!  This was my dads first time in Indy, so we pulled out all the good stuff.  We took them to eat a Bub's Burgers, which my dad is still raving about, we also took them down to Brown County State Park so they could enjoy a picnic in the park. My mom was so interested in all these cupcake places, so we got her some speciality cupcakes, and boy were they delicious!  We really enjoyed their company and it was good for me to get to spend some time with my parents.

Mom & Dad enjoying the trees.

We have also enjoyed the fall festivities of pumpkin painting and fall carnivals and of course the apple orchard.  We absolutely love fall and can't wait to enjoy the rest of it!
Our pumpkin we painted..I'll let you guess who painted which one.

Kerri Willis RN, BSN

Getting a job here in Indy has been quite the journey!  I had an interview last March in the NICU.  The nurse recruiter called me with good and bad news.  The good news was they selected me for the job, the bad news was they were put on a hiring freeze and couldn't hire me.  My job search continued, but was placed on the back burner when we got engaged...wedding panning was just a lot more fun than applying for jobs and never hearing anything back.

The nurse recruiter called me in December and said that the NICU was hiring again and suggested I apply.  Long story short, I found out last week I got the job!  I'm so pumped.  Now, I just have to wait for February 11th to start my orientation.  On Monday, I went and got my flu shot, tetanus shot, varicella titer and TB test.  Lets just say I was in pain on Tuesday, my left arm hurt with any upward movement and I had a low grade fever...buhooo!

We all know how much I love Oklahoma, so don't question my loyalty here as I brag about my awesome new employer!

I'm so excited to begin my career as a registered nurse at such an amazing hospital!  I feel so blessed to have found such a great job and I know God has big plans for me here in Indy!

So its been awhile...

I guess since I've been MIA for the past 6 months, the start of a new year is a perfect time to recap what has happened in 2012.

June:
My sisters, Jaimie and Kadi, and brother-in-law, Larry, came to visit.  We had so much fun and it was great for them to get to visit Andrew and I in Indy.

Larry and Jaimie at the track.

Kadi, Jaimie and I waiting to eat at Bubs in Carmel.

July:
Then Andrew and I took a trip to Chicago to visit his brother and sister-in-law, Katrina.  We had a lot of fun.  It was my first time to Chicago. It was nice, but way too big for my taste!
A & I in a Chicago after having brunch with Mark and Katrina.

We made a quick stop at Wrigley Field!  We wanted to go to a game so bad, but they weren't in town when we were there, so a snapshot outside the stadium will have to do this time.

We also did the touristy thing and enjoyed some time at the beam.

...and of course the future Willis' had to take a picture at the Willis Tower.

August:
First of all, This is when my computer crashed...so no pics for this month, don't worry you didn't miss much!  I went to Oklahoma to visit and do some wedding planning.  It was nice to be home and spend this exciting time with my family.

September:
Andrew flew to Oklahoma at the end of my trip home so that we could take engagement pictures and be showered in wedding gifts in Altus.

We had such a fun time spending the day with Kris Smith and we absolutely love our engagement pictures.

October:
I love this month!  It started out with a bang!  My mom and her friend Debbie came to visit for mine and Andrew's Indy shower.  Mom and Debbie brought all of our gifts from our Altus shower and helped, or maybe I should say completely setup the kitchen.  I'm so glad that my mom got to come help us get organized!

Laura and I rode back to Oklahoma with my mom and Debbie.  Boy was that a memorable trip!  We made lots of stops including stops at the worlds largest gift store, precious moments chapel, and of course at the Oklahoma border.

Wedding week started and things were kinda stressful.  The plan was to have the wedding at Edmond Church of Christ and then have the reception outdoor at Angel Park, but due to cold weather we decided on Wednesday to move our reception indoors to the fellowship hall.  Which turned out better than I could have imagined, it was amazingly beautiful!
Here are some of the pictures our guests took with the wedding snap app during wedding week

After the wedding we left for our honeymoon!  We had a great time at our resort in Cancun.

November:
As all of you know, I LOVE November because I love my Birthday!!
We got our wedding pictures back!!

Then we celebrated my BIRTHDAY.
My parents got me a new computer!!!  I blame not having a computer for part of my bad blogging and not taking pictures.
Andrew got me tickets to an Easton Corbin concert.  We celebrated my birthday early with these fun people!

Then on the day after Thanksgiving A and I went to the Pacers game with James and Phil!

December:
Pilgrim Lane Christmas
I love to give gifts and watch people open them, its just so joyful!  We went home to Oklahoma for Christmas.  It was a long drive there and back, but it was so worth it!

2012 was a great year, and with it came a lot of adventures.  I can't believe I've lived in Indy for a whole year now.  God has blessed me with an amazing husband, and I can't see what is in store for us.  Here's to 2013!!!
